A boy in a box hugging his dog.

It doesn't get much better, simpler or sweeter than this, they both glow with happiness.

I've said it before, but it's worth repeating. Belgian Malinois of proper breeding and socialization can make excellent family
companions for children who also have proper behavior around animals. Respect, common sense and consistency created a happy,
healthy home where dogs and young children can all exist without conflict.

Our Belgians are absolutely amazing with children, and not just our son.  They show a high level of protection and herding while
we are out at beaches, parks or camping, and maintain an added level of safety and security around any group of kids we
designate as "ours".   Their intense level of energy is perfectly suited to children who thrive on repitition and motion, as they will retreive a
tossed toy endlessly, and the very randomness of a less-than-perfect throw merely stimulates them further.  They will wait patiently beside the builders of castles, and

dig where directed when moats are needed.  They trot for hours next to the riders of scooters and bicycles, while preventing those riders from going too far,
and they make excellent backrests and heavy blankets when naptime approaches.

Don't get me wrong, they're not Labs, nor canine angels!  They won't let babies crawl on them or give rides to toddlers (but they will
just get up and move away, rather than bite them) but at the same time, they won't let a stranger into our yard or near one of the kids, either.
If you are thinking of a Belgian for a family dog, look carefully for a reputable breeder, and ask about the socialization the dog will
be exposed to.
